Call for proposals to strengthen the resilience of critical entities

The European Commission has launched a call for proposals to support the implementation of a new legislation on the resilience of critical entities. The Directive aims to strengthen the resilience of critical entities against a range of threats, including natural hazards, terrorist attacks, insider threats, sabotage, and public health emergencies. The Call for proposals aims to support the implementation of the Directive in line with the strategic priorities outlined in the ProtectEU Internal Security Strategy and the European Preparedness Union Strategy. The available budget is EUR 15 million divided in two topics: Strengthening the Directive framework (EUR 6 million); and Cross-sector and cross-border resilience of critical infrastructure (EUR 9 million).

HOME - Call for proposals to strengthen the resilience of critical entities

The European Commission launched a call for proposals to support the implementation of a new legislation on the resilience of critical entities.

The available budget is EUR 15 million. The Call is divided in two topics: Strengthening the Directive framework (EUR 6 million); and Cross-sector and cross-border resilience of critical infrastructure (EUR 9 million).

Strengthening the framework of the Directive

Projects funded under this topic should focus on enhanced cooperation for a stronger partnership between Member State authorities and the private  and public sectors. Additionally, projects should work towards a stronger resilience by improving the resilience of critical entities during disruptive critical infrastructure incidents, throughout the entire resilience cycle, from prevention to response. Furthermore, projects should focus on exchanges of best practices between relevant critical infrastructure stakeholders, including key European partners.

Cross-sector and cross-border resilience of critical infrastructure

Projects funded under this topic should allow entities and authorities from EU countries to conduct cross-border stress tests of critical infrastructure in sectors covered by the CER Directive, or to organise large-scale exercises to simulate response to specific risk scenarios. A stress test is a dedicated and targeted assessment of the resilience of a critical infrastructure and the entity that operates it based on extreme, but realistic pre-defined scenarios.

The application deadline is 31 March (17:00 CET).
