Información del Taller "Guidelines for Disaster Risk Preparedness Solutions"

The CEN Workshop “Guidelines for Disaster Risk Preparedness Solutions” is a collaborative workshop process jointly led by the SYNERGIES and PARATUS projects under the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) and it aims to establish a standardised framework for the presentation, organisation, and sustainability of disaster preparedness solutions across Europe. The process brings together relevant stakeholders to agree on shared best practices, guidelines, and/or technical specifications in a given field.

This Workshop will result in a foundational reference document designed to strengthen Europe’s capacity to anticipate, prepare for, and manage disasters. The resulting CWA (CEN Workshop Agreement) will provide long-term value by supporting coherent, evidence-based, and forward-looking preparedness practices across the European disaster risk preparedness community. For more information on the CWA please see: https://www.cmine.eu/networks/events/188751

This CWA - initiated by the SYNERGIES and PARATUS projects is focused on developing Guidelines for Disaster Risk Preparedness Solutions. It is being launched in response to a shared challenge:

Many publicly funded initiatives produce tools, platforms, and processes to improve preparedness for disasters, but there is currently little or no consistency in how these outputs are presented or made sustainable for future use by Citizens, Authorities, Policymakers, Researchers, Practitioners & Responders.

This new CEN Workshop will:

·         Provide an advisory set of good practice recommendations,

·         Focus on how preparedness tools and solutions should be documented, shared, and maintained,

·         Support interoperability, discoverability, and long-term usability,

·         Align with existing EU standards and policies, while remaining adaptable to local needs.

Rather than building new tools, the CWA will offer guidance on how to ensure what we already build has lasting impact.

Why now?

The policy arena in which projects are operating is becoming increasingly complex and the range of programmes funding and supporting research in this area continues to grow.  There couldn’t be a better time to understand the broader environment of projects running in a particular field, to connect with them, learn from them and to contribute to shared activities.  Through a Cluster, every project is provided a voice and the ability to contribute to regular thematic policy briefs which are reported through a formal process to key international bodies.

Why are we doing it?

Too often, project outcomes - no matter how innovative become hard to access, forgotten, or duplicated.

We’re doing this to:

·         Support sustainability: ensuring preparedness tools don’t disappear once the project ends.

·         Promote consistency: improving how tools are described, organised, and shared.

·         Strengthen impact: making solutions easier to discover, compare, and integrate into practice.

·         Use public money better: by reducing duplication and building on what already exists.

·         This CWA is about turning isolated project successes into shared, long-term solutions.

Why should you get involved?

Getting involved means you can:

·         Shape the guidelines with your expertise and insights.

·         Showcase your project’s contributions and increase their visibility.

·         Make your tools easier to use, adopt, and sustain.

·         Align your project with European-level efforts and contribute to a more connected, coordinated preparedness landscape.

·         Lead by example, demonstrating commitment to better collaboration, sustainability, and responsible use of funding.

Being part of this Workshop puts your project at the forefront of driving real, lasting change in how we approach disaster preparedness across Europe.
